r8168-dkms software package provides dkms source for the r8168 network driver, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install r8168-dkms
r8168-dkms is installed in your system.
Make ensure the r8168-dkms package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep r8168-dkms *
You will get with r8168-dkms package name, version, architecture and description in a table
